This drive can both read and write CD/DVDs disks effectively - providing users with full optical read capability in a single device. This product has been tested and validated on Dell systems. It is supported by Dell Technical Support when used with a Dell system. The speed will determine how fast the data can be written on the CD/DVD disc. It is independent of the type of drive. Typically, 8x speed can write a DVD disc in approximately 8-13 minutes; 16x speed can write a DVD disc in approximately 4-7 minutes; 24x speed can write a DVD disc in approximately 3-4 minutes.
